Individual and Couples Counseling

Online counseling through secure video conferencing. Now, introducing Walk and Talk Couseling session for the San Diego area.

Hi, I'm Sue

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, (LCSW) for the State of California and the State of Illinois and in-network for BCBS of Illinois.

I am a Relationship Coach trained by the Relationship Coaching Institute, (RCI).

Individual Counseling

Working one-on-one with a Therapist can help you get to the heart of your current struggles and difficulties. We all can heal when given the right circumstances and understanding.

We know the heart is capable of growth, understanding and love. So we have an open, curious, compassionate and respectful approach. We use proven methods and energy psychology tools because we know that our mind may know that you are “smart enough”, “worthy of Love” — but if the heart and the body believe differently then you will find yourself acting in self-destructive ways.

We work to help bring the mind and body into alignment to work together for a holistic approach that helps healing unfold.

Couples Counseling

We support couples to gain insight into their relationships and provide tools for better communication and resolving conflict.

Many couples don’t understand why the same traits in their partner that attracted them to each other are now causing fights and arguments. They feel confused and don’t know what to do or where to turn.

If we can understand our current conflicts through understanding our past family and relationship issues, we can actually deepen and create a more meaningful relationship.

As your guide, I can provide a safe space for exploration of these underlying causes of your relationship difficulties with more ease.

What are the tools and theories that guide your practice?

I believe everyone is connected and yet we all have had painful experiences in our lives which often can make us feel disconnected from ourselves and others. We can work together to understand your painful experiences, slow down, reconnect and strengthen the connection to your intuition and inner wisdom so you can feel confident in yourself and more clear in your life.

The tools to help develop resilience during the difficult times in your life include:

  • EFT – Emotional Freedom Technique
  • Mindfulness / Breathing Techniques
  • Guided Meditation

The theories that inform my guidance:

  • Psychodynamic Therapy
  • Family Systems Therapy
  • Internal Family Systems Therapy

We need to build trust in our intuition and inner wisdom. Build resilience because life can be hard.

Depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for services to be covered in full or in part. Please contact your provider to verify how your plan covers you for psychotherapy services

I would recommend you asking these questions to your insurance provider to help determine your benefits:

  • Does my plan include out-of-network health providers?
  • Does your health plan include mental health benefits?
  • Does your plan have a deductible? If so, what is it and have you met it yet?
  • Do I need a referral from my primary care provider in order to have services be covered.
